What is Rooting Hormone?

Rooting hormone is a root stimulating hormone. Rooting hormone will promote the plant rooting so the root will develop quickly and more strong.

There are some types available in the market such as rooting hormone powder and rooting hormone liquid. But powdered rooting hormone is easiest to handle. You may buy it at garden supply store or at garden online store.

How to Use Rooting Hormones

Successful propagation or making new plant is depend on the process cleanness and parent plant condition. So below are tips to use rooting hormones to get successful propagation:

1. Use sharp scissor or razor to cut the stem of parent plant. Make sure to clean the scissor and wipe it with alcohol 70% solution before cutting. Alcohol 70% is the great disinfectant solution to kill all microorganism live in the blade surface.

2. Remove all leaves from your stem cutting before starting the rooting process.

3. Pour a little bit rooting hormone powder into a clean container or bowl. Don’t dip the cutting into their original rooting hormone pack directly to avoid contamination.

4. Dip the cutting stem into the rooting hormone for about an inch.

5. Prepare a suitable pot with moist growing medium.

6. Plant the dipped stem cutting into the pot.

7. Cover the pot with a clear plastic bag and place it in a sunny location.

8. Keep the plant growing medium moist.

9. New roots will be formed depend on the plant type but usually the new plant already have root after new leaves appeared.

10.Open the plastic cover once new leaves formed.
